So Much For My Happy Ending
Today I finished reading Jodi Picoult’s My Sister’s Keeper. It was my first Picoult and, while I wasn’t expecting a bed of roses based on what I’d heard about her books, the ending of this one had me in hysterics (that’s tears, not laughter unfortunately). I’m sure this is a sign of a great writer, that she was able to induce such emotion in the reader. It was certainly a page turner that had me hooked from page one. It’s about to be made into a movie I hear, which I’m sure will be a hit.
But Jeez, I’m exhausted. Now I need to go read something a little cheerier to restore my emotional equilibrium. I’ve had enough tragedy for a while.
Maybe a Jenny Crusie next? Something by SEP? Maybe a nice category by Jessica Bird. Or better yet I could get cracking on writing the ending of my own work in progress, instead of procrastinating by reading other people's books.
There’s an idea…
